Ingredients

  • 1 cup plant milk
  • 1 ripe banana (frozen if possible*)
  • 2 Tbsp. cacao powder
  • 1 Tbsp. pure maple syrup (or pitted dates to sweeten)

Optional:

  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract, 1/8 tsp. almond extract, protein powder, 2-3 ice cubes

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Taste and adjust if necessary.

Notes

*Bananas: Frozen bananas result in a thicker, creamier, milkshake-like consistency. But if you don't have frozen, fresh will work too. For an even thicker milkshake, use up to 2 bananas if desired.
Milk: I use unsweetened milk. You may want to reduce the maple syrup if using sweetened milk. (Any plant milk should work here. I've use almond, cashew, soy, etc.)
Yield: Recipe makes about 1 1/2 cups.
