FAQ

Q: Can I use The Garden Grazer recipes on my website or newsletter?
A: I kindly ask that you don’t republish my recipes in their entirety. If you’re a blogger or media outlet that wishes to share a recipe from The Garden Grazer, please feel free to feature one image from my site along with clear credit and a link back to the original recipe on thegardengrazer.com. I do not allow republishing of full recipes in any form. Thanks very much for your understanding!

Q: Why don’t you include sodium content in your nutrition estimates?
A: I completely understand people’s concern with sodium, which is actually why I purposely omit stating the numbers on my site. I feel it’s not nearly an accurate enough calculation. Most of my recipes simply say β€œsalt to taste” to let people cater directly to their own needs. Even with the few recipes that state an amount of salt, I still omit the sodium content as it can vary significantly with other factors. (For example, differing sodium content between brands, using no-salt vs. salt-added canned tomatoes, etc.) So I always encourage people to calculate their own to achieve a much more precise reading based on their exact ingredients, brands, and amounts.

Q: Do you allow guest posts or articles?
A: Thank you for the offer but I don’t accept any guest posts on the site.

Q: Can I send you my product in return for a review or sponsored post?
A:
Thank you, but there are no sponsored posts here on The Garden Grazer; a decision I made shortly after starting the blog 8+ years ago. I strive to give readers complete peace of mind that I’m not being paid to promote or say things, and that all content is honest and authentic. I’m not opposed to collaborating with a few select companies once in a while if I’m truly passionate about them and our values align (such as Encha Organic Matcha). But I’m driven to keep it meaningful and genuine with how I incorporate it with the blog.

Disclosure on my relationship with Encha Organic Matcha:
For full clarity, I do receive free product from Encha, but I would purchase, drink, and recommend them regardless. They are currently the only company I collaborate with, and I was the one to initially reach out to them because I love their quality, attention to detail, and how much our values align.

I just found your recipe for the Cilantro Lime Dressing from 2013. I saw a multitude of comments but I see the recipe on the printer friendly and the blog page differ. Which combination do you now use for the best cilantro lime dressing? Thanks, Diane

Hi Diane! THANK YOU so much for your comment – I just updated the print-out!! πŸ™‚ I became vegan after I originally posted this recipe, so I initially used greek yogurt but always use avocado for the dressing now. It's so customizable which is what I love! Thanks for pointing that out, I really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy it if you give it a whirl! πŸ™‚

Hi Mary! Due to the many variables, I don't provide nutritional stats on the site. But if you'd like to calculate your own you can try this website:

I found your website on Pinterest last week and LOVE IT! It is very well done and easy to maneuver. I especially like that the salad recipes are printable to one page, and your photos show the ingredients before they are mixed together. I can see how really simple they are after all, and no need to fret about cooking.

I always wanted to be a great cook, but I just didn't get that gene. I have no kitchen imagination (and we have no kids), so my Husband does most of the cooking and I am "cleanup detail". I figure – if he will eat it, then that's the trick anyway, right? I sure hope he'll like garbanzos and black beans!

I'm also excited to try Matcha, and learned everything from your website. Thank you for (finally) some really useful information.

Thanks for responding to my comment! As a matter of fact I did try a couple of your colorful salads for relatives and they loved them! I prefer cold food in the summer since its plenty hot in Georgia! My first experience with cooking quinoa, and loved your recipe for the super salad! But then, you can't go wrong with avocados either! I did learn to fold them in last or they won't stay cubed.

I have also been "spiralizing" my cucumbers and zucchini with my new Veggeti Pro (basically a fancy apple slicer). It makes thin spaghetti type noodles (and has other ribbon blades, etc.) that dress up a plate and you can eat raw or sautΓ©. HOW FUN – and you were my inspiration!

Also, I recently discovered dehydrated OKRA and want to try this with green beans, squash and zuchs (most were at 130 degrees for 6-8 hours). Maybe this could be another segment of your website?

    • Kaitlin M

      July 7, 2015 at 5:52 pm

So glad you and your relatives have been enjoying the salads! I agree – they're so refreshing in the summer (especially down in that southern heat – whew!) πŸ˜‰ That Veggeti Pro sounds awesome! I've yet to try spiralizing but it's becoming so popular now, and I know I'd love it. Will definitely try it out soon, thanks for the motivation! Loved reading all your thoughts – thanks for taking the time to write! Have a lovely week and stay cool down there! πŸ™‚

    • PJ L

      July 22, 2015 at 6:25 pm

Here is the Amazon link for my Veggeti Pro if you're interested. I tried the small "hourglass" shaped spiralizer (basically an old-school pencil sharpener for veggies), but it didn't feel safe to hold. After a little more research, this was my favorite:

      http://www.amazon.com/Veggetti-Table-Top-Spiralizer-Quickly-Vegetables/dp/B00VQTHRAA/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1437589035&sr=1-2

I'm also about to place my first order for matcha from Encha.com per your recommendation! We have a NutriBullet 900w and I'm making "compost smoothies" of leftover veggies and can add the dry matcha. Hubby loves the NB for fruit drinks, but I'm cravings GREENS!

      July 25, 2015 at 7:29 pm

Awesome!! Thanks for the link πŸ™‚ Let me know how the matcha goes!!!!

I found one of your recipes on Pinterest, and I became entranced with your website and blog. And special thanks for introducing me to matcha! I wondered what it was, but couldn't try any of the bottled matcha drinks in the stores, because none of them were kosher. (I'm a kosher vegan.) I have already ordered a whisk, scoop, and organic matcha from encha.com. I also signed up for your blog and am looking forward to further exploring your website and pinterest boards. Thanks for everything! Devora K

Hi Kaitlin. I really love your site and your recipes. Beautiful!
I was wondering if you could tell me what you do about vitamin B12. I read from multiple sources that it is the one thing vegans must make sure they get enough of as it is not found in plants (it is found in animal products only because animals eat unwashed plants which still contain the vitamin B12 bacteria). Do you take supplements or choose non-dairy milks fortified with vitamin B12? Or perhaps something else?
I look forward to learning from you.
Thanks a lot and happy holidays!

    • Kaitlin McGinn

      December 22, 2015 at 8:56 pm

Hi again!! πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for your kind words. It warms my heart to hear people so excited about the recipes! As far as B12, I try to do both a supplement (most days a week) and work in non-dairy milk, nutritional yeast, cereal, etc – there's actually quite a few B12 fortified foods now. Though a disclaimer: I'm definitely not a medical professional and this is just what I personally do πŸ™‚ I hope that helps a little! Wishing you a very happy, peaceful holiday as well!!

Hi Kaitlin, I made your Fiesta Bean Salad before and both me and my husband love it. How many people does it serve? It's been awhile since I made. I am making for 12 women so need to know how much. Thank you. Danyne

Hi Danyne! I'm so glad you both loved it! You could get by with a single batch if there are other dishes and people are taking a small amount. Otherwise, go ahead and double it – leftovers are always good if you have extra! πŸ˜‰

I have a Big question:how about your B12 vitamin. I want yo be vegan too, but I'm scared of my B 12. That's why I only eat fish. I from Colombia and I fell in love with your recipes. I need to improve my English. So, that website will be so interesting. Thanks, waiting for your answer.
