    Vegan Basil Recipes

    Browse 15+ vegan basil recipes! These easy, healthy recipes either feature or include this flavorful, fresh herb. Basil is rich in vitamin K, vitamin A, iron, and calcium. It also contains carotenoids and antioxidant flavonoids. Studies show basil also provides antimicrobial protection as well as anti-inflammatory benefits. Most often I use sweet basil, but there are several other varieties such as Thai basil, holy basil, lime basil, etc.

    Tips: For the best quality basil, try to select leaves that are vibrant green. (Avoid ones with dark spots or yellowing.) I try to purchase organic when possible. Fresh basil is delicate, so it's best to add it to your dish at the end of cooking time or as a garnish before serving. This will help retain the nutrients and flavor.

    Availability: Basil is a classic summertime herb, but you can often find it year-round in grocery stores.
